Fractional Marketing

Fractional = a modern work arrangement where individuals work part- or full-time for multiple clients.

Marketing = all the activities a company undertakes to promote the buying or selling of its products or services.

Fractional + Marketing = a flexible approach allowing marketing professionals to utilize their expertise in project-based work or ongoing relationships with multiple companies. This is a cost-effective, flexible solution for businesses seeking specific skillsets and strategic guidance.

Fractional seems to be the new buzz word in business, but it shouldn’t be overlooked – it’s a good one. With the current economic uncertainty and political strife between parties pushing caution, it’s no wonder companies are seeking alternative solutions in marketing.

As a seasoned marketer, I can confirm that in many businesses, marketing is seen as “RSPs” or revenue sucking pigs and are considered valuable, yet disposable when times are tough. I could sit and belabor this point with my personal arguments but that’s for another post.

Regardless of the views on marketing, at some point, businesses realize they need help. Some, so much more than others. But for businesses that don’t understand the roles within marketing, there will be a definitive gasp when they learn that hiring a full-time marketing leader will run you about $200k in salary alone. And don’t even get me started on agency fees.

So, enter fractional marketing. Essentially you are sharing the expertise of a marketing professional in a short-term or ongoing basis. This person lives to oversee all the nuances of marketing that most outside of the marketing discipline don’t understand nor do they know exists. A fractional marketer will dig into your business to determine the most pressing needs and guide you towards achieving your set business goals and objectives. They will craft a strategy for you, and execute on your behalf. Unlike freelancers, they offer services that are rooted in strategy and overseeing the execution rather than a specific task. And unlike agencies, they can offer a more targeted expertise with a personalized approach.

So, if your business needs strategic guidance in marketing but you can’t justify a full-time expert right now, take the time to look for a fractional marketing expert.
